Tasmania state nomination
Tasmania selects nomination candidates through its Migration Tasmania Gateway, using a Registration of Interest and pathway-specific priority attributes. Work, study or established residence in Tasmania can matter differently depending on the pathway.

Key facts
| 2026–27 program | The official program opened to new ROIs on 17 August 2026, with invitations issued progressively through the year. |
|---|---|
| Application stages | Create a SkillSelect EOI, register in the Tasmania Gateway, and apply for nomination after selection. |
| This week’s invitations | The official notice moves the usual Thursday 22 October 2026 invitation day to Friday 23 October because of Hobart Show Day. |
| Offshore 491 OSOP | Tasmania says it will not issue invitations through the Overseas Skilled Occupation Profiles pathway during 2026–27. |
Who this is relevant to
For skilled workers, graduates and established residents whose circumstances match a Tasmanian pathway; overseas health and education job-offer applicants have a separate 190 route to check.
Requirements
Check both the minimum pathway requirements and the priority attributes you can prove. Keep the SkillSelect EOI and Gateway ROI aligned, and retain employment, study and residence evidence. Tasmania assesses nomination; Home Affairs separately assesses the visa application.
Common issues
Tasmanian ROI scores are separate from federal points. An invitation does not remove the need to prove claimed attributes: the official policy may decline an application if unverified attributes reduce it below the rolling assessment threshold. The offshore 491 restriction should not be read as closure of every Tasmanian offshore pathway.
