Australian migration for engineers
Plan an engineering move to Australia around three questions: which occupation and assessment route fit your qualifications, which visa pathway is available, and what you need to work in the intended role. These decisions connect, but each has its own evidence and decision-maker.

Requirements
A degree with “engineering” in its title does not by itself settle the assessing authority or visa route. Some technology occupations are assessed by ACS. For Engineers Australia, qualification accreditation and the occupation sought affect the assessment pathway.
Process
- Make a short record of your qualifications, technical discipline, project responsibilities and employment history.
- Resolve the assessing authority and qualification route before investing time in a CDR.
- For points-tested options, check the occupation list, assessment, English, points and EOI requirements together.
- For an employer route, review the proposed role, employer nomination and visa stream as a separate pathway.
Evidence
Keep academic recognition evidence and employment evidence in separate, consistent records. A technical project can help demonstrate competency without necessarily proving a period of paid skilled employment.
Common issues
Do not choose an occupation solely for its perceived migration prospects. A defensible match between qualification, role and evidence is the starting point; an assessment or employer interest alone does not secure a visa.
