The Summary Statement, explained
The Summary Statement is an evidence map for your CDR. For each competency element, explain briefly how you demonstrated it and point to the paragraph in your Career Episodes where the supporting work is described.

Key facts
| Correct template | Use the Engineers Australia template for the occupational category being assessed |
|---|---|
| Brief explanation | Summarise your application of the element in your own words |
| Paragraph reference | Identify the episode and numbered paragraph that actually supports the claim |
| Coverage check | Resolve unsupported elements before finalising the application |
Who this is relevant to
Applicants who have written Career Episodes and need to check their evidence against the applicable category standard.
Requirements
Work from the official category documents rather than a sample bought online. A reference is useful only if the cited paragraph demonstrates the element. The Summary Statement cannot supply a technical explanation that is missing from the underlying episode.
Process
- Number the final episode paragraphs consistently.
- Read one competency element at a time and locate the strongest supporting passage.
- Write a short explanation of what you personally did and insert the precise reference.
- Read the statement against the episodes again after any edits or renumbering.
Evidence
A practical self-check is to open only the cited paragraph and ask whether it supports the explanation in the table. If it does not, revise the evidence or the claim honestly. Do not invent another activity to fill a gap.
Common issues
Use your own analysis and wording. Repeating the competency heading is not evidence. Engineers Australia has published NCSE 2026 for a planned 2027 transition; applicants should use the currently applicable migration template rather than replacing it with a future standard.
